The Du Bois Project uses running, music and simple psychology to induce children to attack math challenges at their level. Offering praise when they complete a challenge helps make math fun for them and start a virtuous cycle of accomplishment -> satisfaction and self confidence -> harder challenges -> greater accomplishment.

In the past two years the number of Mathletes served has increased from 97 to 183 while the number of sessions attended per Mathlete has increased from 8.6 to 11.1.

The Du Bois Project intends to continue to increase the number of mathletes served until we serve every student who attend the Oberlin Public Schools from Kindergarten through fifth grade.
