What is Math Soccer camp?

The Du Bois Math Soccer Camp helps children love math while keeping them physically active. We do not just teach children math. We teach them to love math.

We teach young children to love math by connecting it to favorite activities: running around, kicking balls, solving puzzles, etc. Children learn better when they are active. They learn math better when the math is made real.

At each station, each child is presented with a soccer challenge which they must complete in order to earn the right to their first math challenge. Making math the prize. Our coaches give each child a math challenge that they are confident that they can complete and ask them about the challenges that they have completed. Encouraging children to explain their successes not only makes math fun it solidifies their understanding.

Helping children want math challenges.

Math is fun when it is challenging, but possible. The problems that we present them will be tailored to their ability, making them challenging, possible and fun.
