The Du Bois Math Soccer Camp helps children love math while keeping them physically active. We do not just teach children math. We teach them to love math. We teach young children to love math by connecting it to favorite activities: running around, kicking balls, solving puzzles, etc. Children learn better when they are active. They learn math better when the math is made real.
We are now accepting applications for coach, assistant coach and volunteer assistant coach in training positions.
We offer our math soccer coaches $600 for approximately 67 hours over a two week period July 30th – Aug 11th. Applicants will have completed at least their junior year of high school, have earned an A or B in a pre-calculus, first year of IB SL, or higher math class and have some experience with 6-10 year old children. We generally hire college students but occasionally hire high school students with prior experience as a math soccer camp coach. Math Soccer Camp Coach Applications be filled out here.
High school students entering 10th grade or higher, as well as those entering ninth grade who have earned an A or B in algebra, are welcome to apply to be an assistant coach. Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders are welcome to apply to be a volunteer assistant coach.
Helping children want math challenges.
Math is fun when it is challenging, but possible. The problems that we present them will be tailored to their ability, making them challenging, possible and fun.
